Best in the World

Synopsis:
There is a world that can transport us from the ordinary to the extraordinary, where we are one perfect throw away from greatness, a place where we can all be champions. That world is darts. Through this noble sport, Alex Elliott asks the unfathomable question: What does it mean to be best in the world? Join him on a hilarious, occasionally heroic and heart-warming journey, featuring true stories of success, live darts and celebrations of our own personal triumphs. Motivational bananas included. Building Palaces

Synopsis:
Unfolding Theatre, which "makes theatre with a North Eastern spirit: a wild sense of humour, strength of character and a delight in bringing people together", will present site-specific event Building Palaces in The Stephenson Works, Newcastle, from 15th to 25th September. Billed as " a fantastical, music-filled event in one of Newcastle's hidden architectural gems", it features Singer Beccy Owen, world percussionist Brendan Murphy, and theatre-makers Jane Arnfield, Alex Elliott and Pady O'Connor, along with designer Andrew Stephenson and writer Carina Rodney with director Annie Rigby. A group of musicians, actors and designers have been building their own palaces all summer long. They've built their palaces out of suitcases, whoopee cushions and even songs. Now they are ready to open the doors and welcome the public in!

Killing Time

Synopsis:
In this darkly comic tale, two strangers sharing a shabby hotel room in Eastern Europe wait to escape the inescapable. Pub Quiz

Synopsis:
It's real-time, it's a place where we've probably all spent more than a few evenings and it's an activity that seems increasingly difficult to avoid. The appeal of Carina Rodney's new play Pub Quiz may well be mitigated by how you feel about real pub quizzes that's the downside inherent in this sort of verisimilitude
