Was born in the Anderston district of Glasgow. Educated at St Patrick's junior secondary before moving to St Mungo's academy. Left school in August 1955 and became a miner at Bowhill colliery Fife after which he had a variety of occupations from brickies hod carrier to the Clydeside shipyards. At the age of twenty six became a mature Drama student at the Glasgow school of Dramatic art. On leaving there he has been earning his corn from a wide variety of Acting roles in everything from Pantomime to Shakespeare. Wrote first play the Steamie which won A Scots BAFTA and then wrote Paddies Market For the Tron Theatre in the Glasgow year of Culture. Has also written for Radio and Television. Reached the age of 65 in august 2007 but still Writes and performs. the latest performance has been taking on the Role of the great Scottish comic Rikki Fulton in the Play Rikki and Me. Which played to full houses in the autumn of 2006. He co-wrote this work and will again be touring it in the latter part of 2007. At the present time 19 08 2008 He has just finished writing and directing a play about Glasgow Celtic Football club's UEFA cup run in the 2002-03 season performing at the Pavilion Theatre Glasgow.
