Synopsis:
With One Loss Plus, Daniel Bernard Roumain explores feelings of loss, isolation, and optimism through recorded interviews and narratives of people who have lost and gained from their experiences. The 60-minute, multimedia work is scored for electronic/acoustic violin, piano, electronics, and video, and features the composer-performer interacting with and providing musical accompaniment to a video installation by Janet Wong. The video forms a collage of conversations, natural and contrived, between people who have never met-interwoven with posts from websites such as YouTube and MySpace
