Synopsis:
Actress Anna May Wong agrees to do some behind-the-scenes work for Paramount Studios;she will coach a Caucasian actress, Dorothy Lamour (who has been cast as anything but a Caucasian in nearly every role she's ever played) in a role requiring Lamour to appear as a Caucasian woman raised in China. While Dorothy Lamour wants to create a performance that will be respected by the critics, Anna May Wong wants to redefine - through Lamour's performance -- what "Chinese means to an American audience.
