Mr Pickwick's Christmas
Synopsis:
Adapted from part of Charles Dickens', "The Pickwick Papers", this musical play is a seasonal production for groups seeking an alternative to pantomime. The genial Mr Pickwick and his companions, Tupman, Winkle and Snodgrass gather in the village of Dingley Dell for the wedding of Snodgrass and Emily Wardle, daughter of the hospitable Mr Wardle of Manor Farm. We meet all the well loved Dickens characters, including aging spinster Rachael Wardle, her deaf elderly mother, Old Mrs Wardle, the ever hungry ( and sleepy) Joe, con man and cad, Alfred Jingle, and comic Cockney boot boy, Sam Weller. Suitable period songs and Christmas carols are a feature of this festive production which includes strong roles for both males and females and all ages.
