First staged in 1882, this updated adaptation brings Ibsens scathing commentary of morality into the 1920s aristocracy. What right have we human beings to happiness? Helen Alving is dedicating an orphanage to the memory of her late husband Captain Alving. She is desperate to conceal his philandering past, and to protect their only son, Oswald, from his fathers legacy. But as Oswalds nature begins to feel all too familiar, any hope of success is reduced to ashes. There are some legacies that cannot be hidden.
Original Playwright - Henrik Ibsen. Adapted by Phillip Rowntree, Anna Fox and Alfred Enoch
