Annie Ryan was born and raised in Chicago, Annie trained as an actor at the Piven Theatre Workshop from the age of 12 and at 18 became a member of Chicago's famous Commedia company, New Crime. She received a BFA in Acting from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. These combinded vocabularies formed the foundation of her work with The Corn Exchange, founded in 1995. Over the years, the company's practice and style has grown and morphed, greatly influenced by the wonderful invention and talent of the company's ensemble players. Annie has directed all of the company's productions to date, including modern classics, adaptations and original works created in collaboration with writer Micheal West, of which she is most proud.

Girl is a Half-formed Thing, A
This is a character of astonishing resilience and intelligence - a girl determined to make sense of things amidst the crushing Catholicism and deprivation of her Irish childhood. Rebellious, unrelenting, with biting wit and brilliant spark, Eimear McBride writes with an urgency that is totally electric in performance.
Notes:
Adapted from the 2013 novel of the same name by Eimear McBride. Winner of numerous literary awards including the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction 2014, The Desmond Elliott Prize 2014, The Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year 2014, The Goldsmith Prize 2013 and listed in Best Books of the Year by the New York Times, Guardian, NPR and many more, Eimear McBride's debut novel A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing plunges us into the psyche a girl with breathtaking fury and intimacy.
