Mark Rylance (born 18 January 1960) is an English actor, Theatre director and playwright. He spent his youth in America and returned to England in 1978 to train at RADA under Hugh Cruttwell. In 1980 the Glasgow Citizens Theatre gave him his first job, a year in repertoire, a trip to the carnival in Venice with Goldoni, and an Equity card. He played Hamlet at ages sixteen, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, twenty-eight to thirty, at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and forty at Shakespeare's Globe. In the early eighties he and a group of actors formed a Theatre company. the London Theatre of Imagination which evolved into Phoebus Cart. In 1991 he played Prospero in Phoebus Cart's production of the Tempest at the Rollright Stones, and on the Globe building site. That year Sam Wanamaker invited him to join the Artistic Directorate and he subsequently became the Artistic Director of Shakespeare's Globe from 1996 to 2006. During his career he has played in fifty productions of plays by Shakespeare and his contemporaries. He has also appeared on Broadway. in many English Theatres, and on film and television. Mark is an honorary bencher of the Middle Temple Hall, chairman of the Shakespearean Authorship Trust, a friend of the Francis Bacon Trust, President of the Marlowe Society, a Patron and Ambassador of Survival, the movement for tribal people, and Peace Direct, working for non-violent resolution of conflict.

Synopsis:
Written around 1604 with the assistance or involvement of Thomas Middleton. the play follows the lives of two women, the Princess Infelice and the harlot Bellafront. Set in Italy but drawing on Jacobian underworld London and its prisons, gambling, prostitution, pverty and asylums. Originally written in two parts (plot and sub-plot).

This is an utterly performable comedy, which raises serious questions about the authorship of Shakespeare's work. Created by two-time Tony Award-winning actor Mark Rylance in collaboration with Duluth poet Louis Jenkins, a master of prose poetry whose work is regularly featured on A Prairie Home Companion, this world premiere features original music by Claire van Kampen (Peer Gynt). Nice Fish centers on two men who have gone ice fishing on the last day of the season; the ice is melting and the DNR is watching. they are hoping for something essential, immortal, when a construction worker roars across the ice on his snowmobile, spear, dynamite and fancy dress in hand! And the last blizzard of the season is about to begin. .
