Martin's feature film, SEAMONSTERS, an adaptation of his play OUTSIDE OF HEAVEN, starring 60s legend Rita Tushingham is currently out to distributors. It was short-listed for Best British feature at the Raindance Film festival. Martin's latest play NEVERMIND told the story of a music journalist coming to terms with his failings as a writer, a lover and a son. As he struggles to finish his biography of Kurt Cobain, the Nirvana singer visits him to torment him about his life. This dark comedy sold out its run at the Old Red Lion Theatre in June/July 2009. His recent work includes CHAPELTOWN (commissioned by Company Television) and YOUNG GIFTED AND BLACK the true story of the rise and fall of 80s wonder band MUSICAL YOUTH commissioned by Channel 4. He has written three one-off Dramas for the Afternoon Play for BBC ONE, the HITCH, YOUR MOtheR SHOULD KNOW and COME FLY WITH ME. Martin's first feature BODIES was developed with Kudos/BBC Films. His powerful television film about school bullying, WALKING ON the MOON, directed by Peter Kosminski for Meridian Broadcasting, was universally praised when transmitted on the ITV Network in August 1999. Martin was born in Bradford from a Russian Jewish background. After being expelled from school he started work in a pie shop in Bradford. After this he painted sets for Bradford Playhouse, and developed an interest in Theatre. He also trained to be a nurse until he left to be the singer in a punk band. He has since sung and written songs for various bands including the Passmore Sisters and has acted on the London Fringe. Described by Time Out as "brilliant", Martin's two-part BBC television Drama BLOOD AND PEACHES about Bradford youth, was screened in 1995 with the press drawing favourable comparisons with Alan Bleasdale, Roddy Doyle and Alan Bennett. OUTSIDE OF HEAVEN, Martin's first stage play, was winner of the 1991 Yorkshire Playwrights competition and was shortlisted for the 1991 Royal Court George Devine Award. It opened at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in February 1992 directed by Penny Ciniewicz:
