Bong Hits 4 Jesus

Synopsis:
Part of ObamAmerica: An Algerian prisoner is finally freed from Guantanamo Bay but what awaits him? An African-American university graduate campaigns for Obama in rough East Cleveland, Ohio but keeps getting stopped by armed and racist state troopers. A drone pilot in Arizona hides out in a nail bar. Edward Snowden chats to an Obama souvenir salesman in Washington DC. Bradley Manning dances in his jail cell. An ineffectual gun law is hotly debated on a TV news show. The voices of fourteen different playwrights are heard in ObamAmerica, the first theatre festival to focus purely on the effect this iconic American president has had on his country and on the world. ObamAmerica will give snapshots of the challenges that Barack Obama faces and the sometimes controversial choices he has made during his term of office. Playwrights include renowned TV and film writers Charles Evered (Adopt a Sailor starring Peter Coyote, USAs Monk) and Jacquelyn Reingold (NBCs Smash and Law and Order, HBOs In Treatment), many award winning playwrights from around the United States whose work has been seen at Primary Stages, Naked Angels, Manhattan Repertory Theater (NYC), Milwaukee Rep, Kennedy Center and New Jersey Rep as well as several American writers who have studied at the Royal Court Young Writers Programme and had work produced in London. Seven fifteen minute plays will be performed each evening for a week with seven different plays presented the following week.

Reservoir

Synopsis:
Reservoir is a new play by Eric Henry Sanders that reveals how the tragedy of a distant war seethes within us. Buchner's Woyzeck is re-imagined as the unsettling homecoming of a Mideastern War veteran--a lowly truck mechanic with PTSD. Sanders peers into the souls of the soldier, his Staff Sergeant, his military psychiatrist (a woman), his closest buddy from overseas who is now serving with him stateside, and his girlfriend who is mother of his infant son. the plain-spoken, powerful Drama hits with the force of a mass outcry in our war-weary age. Private Frank Hasek, a young veteran of a foreign war, returns home to await his redeployment. While suffering from the strains of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, he struggles to keep his job as an Army mechanic in order to support Marisa, the mother of his newborn son. He has maintained the vehicles that American troops have driven through occupied cities, often in a state of fright and at peril to civilians in their path. Unsettling visions of what he has seen and a series of unfortunate events threaten to upend his career and derail his relationship with Marisa. Although Hasek seeks help from an overworked psychiatrist at VA hospital, his behavior becomes increasingly erratic and threatens to turn violent when he discovers that Marisa is having an affair with his Staff Sergeant.
