Felipe Santander is arguably the most important contemporary playwright to emerge from Mexico. He was born in Monterrey and studied agricultural engineering in Italy and in the former Soviet Union. He left that career to study drama at the Escuela de Arte Teatral and in Europe. he worked as an actor and director in addition to writing plays.
