        Lariam Dreams

Lariam Dreams

Synopsis:
Jon Rankin is a telecommunications engineer. He travels the world installing satellite equipment and training various people in its use. He spends weeks away from home. Along the way, he is required to take a drug called Lariam, which is designed to fend off Malaria. But it also has one key side effect. It causes vivid and disturbing dreams. Jon gets caught up in these dreams. Actually, he is overtaken by them. An imaginary one-eyed woman appears, as does his old childhood friend and mother, both of whom he has not seen in 20 years. As all of the characters that appear have been created in Jon's own mind, he is clearly attempting to resolve conflicts that he has stuffed down for many years. At the plays climax, it is apparent just how lost Jon has truly become. But in his madness, he finds himself and resolves to begin his life again.
