When the Earth Sings
When the Earth Sings
Synopsis:
When the Earth Sings is a new composition for audiences of children and families. It was composed in 2004, with the ambition of presenting a piece containing both orchestral music that would be fun to listen to, and an exciting dramatic theme, with the audience participating as a choir. When the drama begins to reach its zenith, the actress turns to the audience and requests their help with a simple, sung and chanted rhyme. The composition was conceived as a musical drama, and the actress plays Daphne on the stage, throughout. The story: When the Earth Sings is the tale of Daphne, the deer, who is transformed by her emotions, first into a tree and then into a person. She has fear, anger, grief and joy inside, and not until she is able to access all these feelings does she dare to consider what it means to be a human being. Who knows, there might even be love!
