JOSHUA SCHER was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He attended college at Brown University, where he received his BA in English literature with honors in creative writing. He first began his playwriting career while at Brown, under the tutelage of playwright Paula Vogel, and has subsequently worked under numerous other writers including Mac Wellman and Eric Overmeyer. Upon graduating, Scher immediately matriculated in the Yale School of Drama, where he completed the MFA playwriting program. The Drama School has produced three of his works, IS, felling giants, and Lullabye. His plays have received productions and readings in New York City as well as in and around New England. Scher has also participated as a writer, actor, and mentor in the New Haven chapter of the 52nd Street Project.
