David Dance, The
Synopsis:
This is from the Washington Post Review of "the David Dance": "Siblings, David and Kate Patrone, are mutually devoted survivors of a childhood characterized by a little unhappiness and a whole lot of snow. David grows up to be the host of "Gay Talk", a late-night radio program that focuses on such breezy topics as "Body Piercing: Fashion or Faux Pas?" -except when David is tangling on-air with Radio evAngelist June Handley. Kate, a headstrong financial consultant, tears through three failed marriages before deciding to adopt. It's a decision that leads to tragedy, but also to greater self-knowledge for David and his devoted boyfriend, Chris, an amiable Radio Shack employee who moonlights as a drummer for a lesbian rock band." David grapples with self-doubts about his ability to be a good parent. This poignant play unearths the exceptionally colorful relationship between a brother and his sister and the impact of the spoken word on the human spirit.
Notes:
"the David Dance" was first produced At the 78th Street theatre Lab, New York City in October 2002 And May 2003, Subsequently At the New York International Fringe Festival in August 2003.
