TOM SHARKEY (author-composer-lyricist-producer) began his career at the age of 19 as a writer-editor for the Chicago Magazine and published two books before graduating from Chicago State University. He was Playwright-in-Residence at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale; a winner of Golden Camera and Silver Screen awards for his industrial movies; and a special material writer for many celebrities. He developed Sharkey Shows for Hershey Park, Six Flags Over Texas, and the Las Vegas Strip. Tom's plays (more than a dozen) have been enjoyed by audiences around the world and honored for their creativity. Dreams garnered three Joseph Jefferson Awards, including Best New Play, and subsequently moved to the New Vic Theater in New York City; Just Say Yes was selected best play of the year by the Evanston Drama Club; and Together Again received a Long Beach Playhouse 2005 Annual New Works Festival Prize. Tom's diverse interests and talents are showcased in his plays. Two one-person shows offer entertaining character studies: St. Jane, the story of Jane Addams that has toured throughout Illinois, and A Small Eternity With Jack Benny, which had several large west coast productions. Political themes are highlighted in the comedy All of the People All of the Time and the drama The Nixon Tapes, which played concurrently with the last days of the Nixon presidency. Romantic comedy delights audiences in My Heart Reminds Me and Amy's Wish. Tom's love of music shines in his musical, Cinderella Brown, which had a lengthy run at the Forum Theater in Chicago and in the Virgin Islands; and in It's A Wonderful Life, the musical stage version of the Frank Capra film, which never fails to charm theatergoers each holiday season.

Dreams
In Dreams, two very unlike individuals become aware of each other and eventually come to fear each other by means of their very real nightmares and daydreams. A young lawyer awakens in terror and dread. He had been in an abandoned building; a sadistic policeman was beating him, demanding to know where he had hidden the stolen drugs. The woman at his side, who says she is his wife, the mother of his two children, comforts him. She says, "It was just a dream". A moment later, a young drug addict awakens in throbbing pain. His wounds from a beating are being tended to by a man who says he is a friend. The drug addict tells him about the woman and the two children. The friend says, "It was just a dream."

My Heart Reminds Me
A fast, funny, frolic in the parlor of a New England publisher. Caught up in this summer weekend folly are the publisher in middle-age crisis, his faithful wife of twenty-five years and his zany, naive but willing secretary. This romatic comedy gets complicated by the arrival of three strange guests - a celebrated Swiss biologist, a flamboyant actress and her first and third husband who claims to be the world's greatest Bulgarian actor. This uproarious, fast moving comedy of marital near infidelity defies easy classification in that it actually has six continuing characters but they are played by only one man and one woma
