Minsk, 2011: A Reply To Kathy Acker

Minsk, 2011: A Reply To Kathy Acker
In Belarus people bear the scars of repression all over their body. Gay Pride marches are brutally suppressed. Underground nightclubs are routinely raided by special-forces. If scars are sexy then Minsk must be the sexiest city in the world. a lament for a city that has lost its way, for a beloved home that has turned ugly, for a people who cannot express themselves.

Price Of Money

Synopsis:
How does money control the world we live in? Whether you have it or not, its power is a driving force, determining lives, characters and actions. In this brand new production Belarus Free Theatre explores money through the ages: from ancient Greece through the Elizabethan golden-age, to today's fractured economy and our own personal relationships.

Notes:
Price of Money, conceived by Vladimir Shcherban and devised by Belarus Free Theatre, is inspired by Aristophanes' Plutus, the first political satire from ancient Athens, Ben Johnson's work on the emerging ethics of capitalism, The Staple of News, and Get Outraged! the inspirational text of 93-year-old Stephane Hessel which became the manifesto for the Occupy movement. Hessel calls for young people to look around them and find their own reasons to get outraged about the modern injustices we face in the world today.
