Gerald Sibleyras is an accomplished playwright, whose plays are translated and performed in many countries and regularly nominated for the Moliere Awards. Between 1996 and 1999 he works as a journalist on French radio at France Inter, there he meets Jean Dell with whom he has written several plays such as Le Beret de la Tortue (2001), Une Heure et demie de retard (2005) or Vive Bouchon ! (2007). This collaboration has especially been recognized with Un petit jeu sans consequence in 2002, which received nine nominations for the Moliere Awards in 2003 and awarded 5 of them, among them Best production and Best Play. It has then been adapted for motion picture in 2004 starring Sandrine Kiberlain and Yvan Attal. The play has then been revived in 2005 in Paris. At the same time, Gerald Sibleyras has written many plays of his own and adapted William Nichlson's Retreat from Moscow, Hitchcock/ Buchan's 39 steps (awarded Best Adapation - Moliere Awards 2010), or David Lodge's Secret Thoughts. In 2013 he adapts Daniel Keyes' Flowers for Algernon (Best Production - Moliere Awards 2013) and Sharr White's The Other Place in 2015, as well as adaptations from film to theatre of Seven Year Itch and The Apartment. His play Le Vent des Peupliers (four nominations - Moliere Awards 2003) has been adapted into English by Tom Stoppard (Heroes) and awarded Best Comedy at the Laurence Olivier Awards 2006 starring Richard Griffiths, John Hurt and Ken Stott. Then other plays of his have been succesfully created in Paris : L'Inscription (nominated Best Author - Moliere Awards 2004), La Danse de l'Albatros (nominated best Author - Moliere Awards 2007), Le Banc (2008), Une Comedie Romantique (2010), Stand Up (2011), Perrichon voyage toujours (2015). In September 2015 his last play Un Avenir Radieux has been created at Theatre de Paris satrring Isabelle Gelinas. In 2007 he has been awarded the Prix Theatre by the French society of authors and in 2013 the Prix de la traduction et/ou adaptation.
