Born London 1945. Labi is probably most famous as a pop singer having recorded at least nine albums and had a number one hit. He won an Ivor Novello Award for his song "Something Inside so Strong". He closed the 1999 London Gay Mardi Gras concert. After some 30 years "gigging" and recording he now concentrates on writing. He has published three books of poetry: "Nigger", "Monument" and "Blood on the Page". He lives in Wales with his partner of some 40 years
