Luke Icarus Simon is an Honours graduate in Australian Literature (Drama) from the University of Sydney and also holds two postgraduate university qualifications. His thesis on playwright Michael Gow was published by Currency Press and is still available in many libraries across AustraliA. Since making his professional stage debut in 1980, Luke has led parallel lives as actor, director, producer, scriptwriter, playwright, poet and educator. He is currently the CEO of an adult community college. Luke has worked in Theatre, (Marian St, Belvoir St, Griffin) television and film and is the author of two non-fiction books as well as an e-novel published on the Australian Society of Authors Ozauthors web project. He has also published more than 40 poems and short stories in literary journals and anthologies in Australia, usa, Greece, and Canada, as well as writing numerous literary criticism articles in academic journals on plays and writing fiction. In Australia, Luke is best known for his plays Urban Tales of Utter Devotion (Griffin Development-Week, Stables Theatre), Fish Wednesday (Belvoir Street Theatre with Zoe Carides and Rosalba Clemente) and Sir (Griffins Stables Theatre). His screenplay credits include three teleplays for SBS Television, and Schism, a final-year film for the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, as well as other student films. In 2006 he wrote, directed and starred in My Stamp Collection, a 35mm short film. It was Highly Commended (Runner-Up) at the 2007 Victorian Cancer Council Arts Awards and toured Melbourne and regional cities throughout July-December 2007. It has also been accepted in various international film festivals, most recently the Capalbio Film Festival in Tuscany, Italy. My Stamp Collection will be screening nationally on ABC TV from March 2009. Lukes latest screenplay is Take my hand, a telemovie pilot for Greek television. He has two new plays awaiting production, If You Catch Me & I Dont Escape You and Aegean.

Fish Wednesday
Synopsis:
Tass is in his late 30s and still lives with his widowed mother after the death of his childhood sweetheart. On the fourth anniversary of his wifes death he meets Ellen and starts to wrestle with his guilt and with the necessity to move forward. His mother, Lily, herself emotionally stunted after the death of her errant husband eleven years ago takes matters in her own hands and plots to push her only son towards self-acceptance and a new love.
