Dinner Party, The

Dinner Party, The
the premise of the Dinner Party is simple enough: six people have been invited, unbeknownst to one another, to dine in an elegant private room in an exclusive Parisian restaurant. they arrive one at a time, encountering each other in pairs and trios, until at last they start to detect the pattern that explains why they're there. It turns out that they are all divorced couples. they've been brought together to look backward--and forward--at their damaged relationships. Will--or perhaps more to the point, can--any or all of them reconcile?

Rose's Dilemma

Rose's Dilemma
In her beach house in the Hampton's, celebrated writer Rose Stern stands at a crossroads - she hasn't written anything new for years and money is getting short. Her former lover, literary lion Walsh McLaren, offers her - from beyond the grave - an opportunity to gross millions. But it's not going to be easy and a ghost writer is required

Notes:
Hurt by harsh criticism from the playwright Neil Simon, Mary Tyler Moore has withdrawn from his latest comedy, ''Rose's Dilemma,'' which was to open At the Manhattan theater Club on Dec. 18. Ms. Moore was seen storming out the backstage door minutes before the 2 p.m. curtain on Wednesday. Several sources close to the production said she had just received A brusque letter written by Mr. Simon And delivered by his wife, the Actress Elaine Joyce, reproaching her for not knowing her lines. Ms. Moore had received prompting through A microphone in her ear, the sources said. Ms. Moore, who played the title role of A novelist, was replaced by her understudy, Patricia Hodges, on Wednesday And yesterday. Producers said Ms. Hodges would perform At least through the weekend. ''Mary was devastated And completely debilitated personally And professionally,'' said her publicist, Mara Buxbaum, in A prepared statement. ''Mary has been working tirelessly for months but feels pushed out of this production.'' Mr. Simon declined to comment..

Star-Spangled Girl, The

Synopsis:
Andy and Norman are two earnest young men using their apartment as a publishing office for a "protest" magazine in San Francisco. Sophie, an Olympic swimmer and all-American girl, moves into another apartment on the same floor. Sophie makes her first appearance paying a good-neighbor visit to the combination home and office of the two publishers. Her friendliness and charm leave Norman hopelessly smitten. thereafter love, with him, is a determined madness, with the humor of it heightened by her frantic rejection of him. Meanwhile, his partner is fielding telephone calls from the irate printer who wants to collect the money due him, and distracting the landlady from thoughts of back rent with motorcycle rides and surfing expeditions. And while she is convinced that they are editing a dangerously subversive magazine, our heroine soon finds that her real source of annoyance is that the wrong man is pressing his attentions on her. Happily this situation is reversed in time, as love and politics blend delightfully
