Synopsis:
A deserted hotel in the heart of a conflicted city. People are rioting; banks are burning; debts are being settled. And Adolph's mind is playing tricks on him. As he waits for his wife to return, he finds a safe haven in Gustav, the only other guest. But his new friend may prove even more dangerous than the demons in his own head.
Notes:
Neil Smith's darkly comic new version of one of Strindberg's most powerful plays reveals how much of ourselves we owe to our past, how much of ourselves we are willing to lose, and how suddenly old debts can come back to haunt us. Strindberg himself described his play as three persons, one table, two chairs, and no Sunrise'. For one of his characters, credit has been extended to its ultimate end point.
