Girl X
Synopsis:
Eleven year old Maggie Mills has severe cerebral palsy and the mental age of a 5-month old infant. Her condition will not and cannot change or improve. Her mother believes that the physical changes that accompany adolescence can only bring distress and requests that surgeons remove her daughter's womb. the Mills case is examined from the point of view of the onlookers, a Greek chorus that asks what could or should happen next. Performer and disabled rights activist Robert Softley challenges this chorus and the heartwrenching, highly contested ethical issues that surround the case. When do private matters become public concern? Is the majority always right? Where will it all end?

As disabled people, our bodies are central to how we exist in the world. they're the way others first judge us, the subject of medical diagnosis, and usually seen as the reason that we can't take part in society. And yet, they also carry with them volumes of stories about incidents, scrapes and calamities. Let us tell you how we perceive ourselves.
