Aaron Sommers (born 18 Sep 1975) lives with his wife and daughter in a modest home set deep in the NH woods, on the more inaccessible side of a mountain. His fiction appears in The Emerson Review, Amoskeag, Lifelines: A Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth Literary Journal, and other publications. In Summer of 2014, The Players' Ring Theatre in Portsmouth produced his full-length original play, "The Death of a Dragon Slayer." His short story, "The Early Departure of Cameron Bailey," earned First Place in Berkeley Fiction Review's 2015 Sudden Fiction Contest. Cross Section of the Hirschfelds, A
Synopsis:
This story finds Ben and Rita Hirschfeld in the twilight years of their lives, wrestling with the inevitable gripes and regrets that follow them. Inside their modest Bronx apartment, Ben strives to maintain a sense of normalcy while his wife lusts for time she doesn't have. In the end, the old married couple must come to terms with things long past-things lost, unspoken and unresolved-before they finally say goodbye.

First published as a short story in the 2011-2012 issue of Lifelines: The Dartmouth Medical School Literary Journal, Aaron Sommers' play is an original work examining the unique dynamics of one family about to experience an upheaval. During this journey he recognizes the individual challenges all families face and celebrates the universal triumphs they're capable of

Death of a Dragon Slayer, The
Synopsis:
The Death of a Dragon centers on the experience of a young, idealistic special education teacher and her High School student with Asperger's Syndrome. The characters embark on a journey full of angst, grief and rebellion. This play examines the impact of bullying inside and outside the classroom along with the redemptive quality of creative expression.
