Karen is starving herself and it seems that no one can do anything about it. The play spans a two-week period in which the girl's relationship to her family and imaginary characters - especially Emily Dickenson whose persona Karen emulates - exposes the conflict in her own mind. The play is suitable for secondary school audiences.
