Missing PersonMissing Person
Synopsis:
"Miss Hewitt is director of an employment agency, the reception room of which is the setting for the play. Times are hard and her employee of just a few days is Garnet, who, as secretary, has 'learned the ropes' of avoiding Miss Hewitt's creditors. During Garnet's absence from the office, a very impressive client seeks assistance from the agency in locating her missing sister, who, on previous departures from her home has solicited employment from agencies of this type. Great emphasis is placed upon secrecy because of the mental quirks of the missing girl. After the client's depature and the arrive of Garnet, she and Miss Hewitt, with mixed opinions, discount the possibility of the girl's appearance in the agency. A further visitor, a nervous and confused young lady, appears. During her interview with Garnet, she collapses, thus convincing Miss Hewitt that she is the missing girl. With the door locked, the girl revives, and during a highly dramatic and unprecented scene, a life hangs in the balance. The audience is spellbound as Garnet histrionically proves to have been all along, the "Missing Person".
