Darktown Cakewalk, The
Synopsis:
A new 13 hour performance work by radical feminist, artist and musician Linder who, over the last three decades, has applied the principles of collage to music, print, performance and design. For The Darktown Cakewalk she will work in collaboration with musician Stuart McCallum (Cinematic Orchestra), fashion designer Richard Nicoll (also Creative Director at Cerruti) and dancers and musicians from varied disciplines. This Glasgow International new commission is an epic invocation of glamour and fantastical pageantry which will span the entire building. Witch trials and beauty queens, rag time and Euro Pop merge to enfold the viewer in a secret history of diversity and dissent. Linder's fusion of high fashion and fine art is at once aggresive and visionary.
