Love on the Rack (Un fil a la patte) by Georges Feydeau
Synopsis:
One of Feydeau's greatest triumphs, this hilarious farce has been a perennial mainstay of theatre companies struggling to balance their budgets! Set in "les années folles" of the 1890s, it contains all of the master's theatrical tricks and respectable but reckless middle-class characters - usually with limited capacities when caught with ladies of low repute in love triangles. The, at times, breath-taking action holds the audience to their seats as they observe their own petty egocentricities and worldly ambitions on-stage through unrelieved humour. In this, Feydeau resembles his spiritual father: Molière.

Merry-go-round (Quelle famille!) by Francis Joffo, The
Synopsis:
This touching boulevard comedy has received hundreds of performances throughout the francophone world, has won numerous awards, is frequently screened on French television and stands as Francis Joffo's greatest success to date. It is a portrait of a typical family spanning four generations, stymied by conjugal problems, defective communication and loneliness. Transposed to an American setting, this new translation loses none of Joffo's vibrancy, wit and deep compassion.

Savonarola
This play relates the rise and fall of the Dominical priest against the backdrop of Renaissance Florence. It is a time of great turbulence as the conflict between medieval and modern ideas reaches fever pitch and ordinary citizens struggle to survive. With its quickly-paced action, its colourful array of characters and rippling dialogue, Savonarola raises fundamental religious, moral and social issues which remain as relevant today as they were in 15th. Century Italy.

Siege of Saint Michel, The
Synopsis:
Breton "freedom fighters" hijack fifty masterpieces of French art from the Louvre Museum in a bid to secure autonomy for their homeland. The paintings are taken to the world heritage site of Mont Saint Michel where the Breton rebels seize control, evict the inhabitants, and for good measure, kidnap the U.S. ambassador and a close friend of the American President. All will be sacrificed together, along with the Abbey itself, if the French government refuses the rebels' demands. One by one, the paintings are burned as a worldwide TV audience looks on in horror&&&

Spiders and Flies
Four human beings - an Anglican priest, a French nurse, an American soldier and a Roman legionnaire - find themselves at the gates of Heaven. All have their particular ideas concerning what awaits them. These ideas are gradually undermined as the reality of their new situation becomes ever clearer. They talk of revolt, of returning to Earth by whatever means. But how can this be accomplished when faced with such enormous odds? - This is a hilarious farce in which ordinary human beings wrestle courageously to discover a meaning for life.

World is Round (La Terre est ronde) by Armand Salacrou, The
Synopsis:
Perhaps Salacrou's greatest play, its central theme is the question of moral values in a godless society. Set in Renaissance Florence during the time of Savonarola's theocracy, it traces the city's political and religious turmoil through the lives of an upper-class merchant family torn by contradictory and irreconcilable aims. Savonarola's sermons polarize the increasingly agitated citizenry into hostile camps. But is the holy friar a true messenger from God or merely suffering from self-delusion?
