we actually doubt that John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson are going to pull off this idea of theirs of declaring independence from England. And when at last they succeed and they and sixteen of their colleagues in the Continental Congress come forward to sign the Declaration, we are genuinely moved.

Curtains
Curtains unfolds backstage at Boston's Colonial theatre in 1959, where a new musical could be a Broadway smash, were it not for the presence of its talent-free leading lady. When the hapless star dies on opening night during her curtain call, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi arrives on the scene to conduct an investigation. But the lure of the theatre proves irresistible and after an unexpected romance blooms for the stage-struck detective, he finds himself just as drawn toward making the show a hit as he is in solving the murder.

Titanic
Titanic is truly an ensemble production as we see when we are introduced to the crew and voyagers in the first scene. In a series of songs and song fragments, we meet the owner/financier, the captain, the crew, and the passengers; we learn both how the Titanic came to be commissioned, built and provisioned as well as how the various individuals came to be standing on the Southampton dock on April 10, 1912. the scene effectively conveys the broad themes which underscore the show (especially the rigid social class structure in America and abroad and the economics of the time which fueled another major wave of immigration to the United States).

Will Rogers Follies, The
the life of Will Rogers as told by Will and with embellishments from Florenz Ziegfield. At nineteen Will runs away from home and goes to South America to be a cowboy. He meets the love of his life - Betty Blake on a train. Ziegfield decides that this is not romantic enough - so instead of the train she floats down from the sky seated on the moon. Some years later Will is playing in a Wild West Revue and he marries Betty. Ziegfield says that a grand wedding should be the finale of act one. So Will and Betty have four children and Will goes to work at the Ziegfield Follies where he becomes a huge success. He is also a radio star now and he is just about to leave for Hollywood when Ziegfield says it is nearly time for the interval - so they have the grand wedding. In Hollywood Will is also a great success - he is asked to run for President. Ziegfield looses his fortune and the Depression gets worse. President Hoover asks Will to broadcast to the Nation to boost morale. He does and everyone is inspired. In Alaska he goes for a plane ride with his friend Wiley - they never come back.
