Annette Storckman is a New York based playwright, raised in the Hudson Valley, but was secretly born in Jersey City. Ms. Storckman graduated in 2012 from SUNY New Paltz with a BA in English Literature. She also minored in Creative Writing and Theatre Arts and, most importantly, learned to drink an entire bottle of wine by herself. While in school, Ms. Storckman worked very closely with Dr. Anita Gonzalez studying immersive theatre as well as the artistic diaspora between New York and Liverpool. The pair spoke on the subject in 2010 at the University of Surrey for the Society of Dance History Scholars. In 2011 Ms. Gonzalez, Storckman, and Richard Aellen premiered the first staged reading of their co-written piece LIVERPOOL TRADING at the Dixon Place Theatre. Storckmans short play ASSUMPTIONS was also produced that year in the inaugural New Paltz New Play Festival, and was chosen as the sole student-written piece. Since graduating, Storckman has been active in the indie theatre community working as a dramaturg and production assistant. Most notable plays: THE ZEBRA SHIRT OF LONELY CHILDREN, CONEY and WHY WE LEFT BROOKLYN. She also interned with The League of Professional Theatre Women and The Broadway League. She is now the Professional Licensing Administrator at Samuel French, Inc. Her play ASSUMPTIONS was commissioned to be adapted for the New York Icon Plays: Love in an Irish Pub, which was received with rave responses and many guffaws. This version of the play is now available for purchase, here, with Indie Theatre Now. Ms. Storckman currently has a play in development with Little Beast, and will be the 2016 Writer-in-Residence for Spicy Witch Productions.
