Synopsis:
1929. A young girl from a small town in Mississippi travels to New Jersey to be with her fiance. She does not really love him but the marriage will make her financially comfortable. At a speakeasy one night an opera singer chats her up and they go back to his apartment. they make love - but then he goes off and sleeps in another room. the fiance turns up and gets the brush-off.
