Born in Hamilton, Ontario, and often described as the quintessential Canadian, Gary 'pigboy' Swartz graduated with a B. Sc. in Communications from Ohio University and has more or less made his living as a copywriter/journalist ever since. In addition to writing advertising in both Canada and Japan, where he lived some 15 odd years (very odd) and won a handful of awards, he has written numerous magazine articles and was a weekly music columnist (freelance) for the Japan Times.

MAO Tears Like Rain

Synopsis:
Mao has withdrawn he is manically depressed and suffering with blinding cataracts which he refuses to have treated. He will only communicate through a poster of his younger self. Jiang Qing needs to have him more visible to the public. She gets a young girl to read to him. they eventually have a sexual relationship. Jiang says she will have the girl killed unless Mao has the eyes operated on. He has the operation. Jiang says the girl knows too much and must die. the girl asks Mao to take her life
