        Civility!         Well Job, Gertrude

Civility!

Synopsis:
Dionysus arrives in Thebes with a single goal: to convince King Pentheus to join him in the new, wild world being born on the mountain. Disguised as The Stranger, Dionysus drives the women, wise men, and Queen of Thebes to the mountain as Pentheus struggles to maintain order, and keep his feelings for Dionysus in check. Born of a desire to reimagine Eurpides's The Bacchae, Civilty! searches for some answers to the unanswerable, explores the wild, and reexamines civilization as we know it. How do we live? How do we live together? And how do you make an earthquake happen onstage?

Notes:
Civility! was presented as a work-in-progress as part of SITI Company's SITI Lab in October of 2014,

Well Job, Gertrude

Synopsis:
Well Job, Gertrude! is the queer fictional story of how Gertrude Stein and a rural telephone operator named Nelle fall in love over the telephone in 1935. Nelle runs the switchboard for her tiny farming community out of her home, working six days a week, eleven hours a day. Gertrude Stein is on her groundbreaking six month lecture tour of the United States, giving 74 lectures in 37 cities in 23 states. Due to some crossed wires, the women strike up an unlikely long distance friendship - or is it a romance? Part historical revisionist lesbian rom-com, part movie musical, part telecommunications thriller, Well Job, Gertrude! is a story about getting lost and leaving home.
