Accents on Words

Synopsis:
Accents on words is a two woman show featuring Aoife Mannix & Heather Taylor, containing a unique blend of poetry & music served up by two extraordinary voices. It will challenge emotions & help you laugh at the pain of being subsumed into so many different worlds at once. It's a lyrical journey through the wilderness of Canada, the glittering lights of New York, the smooth creaminess of Dublin & the chameleon mix of identities which are our cities today. Like tuning into radio waves, the sound of our voices contains the many echoes of where we come from. In the 21st century, in a time when we have become global travelers, most of us have more than one accent haunting our past. These accents are our labels, our broken love affairs, our history.

Notes:
Co-written by Heather Taylor And Aoife Mannix. Currently touring Around the UK And beyond. Has been performed in Inish Orr (Ireland), Mumbai (with the British Council), Brighton And London.

Clippings

Synopsis:
It is England poised on the brink of a new day with a bill about to be passed through parliament that will abolish the monarchy. Unfortunately, 15 year old monarchist Mark would do anything to keep them in place, including sacrificing his life for the cause. In 3 intersecting monologues, we witness Mark and politician David's thoughts the day before the bill is presented with Mark's mother Susan's thoughts in the aftermath of her son's actions. Embracing the idea of what is a hero, we see the journey of a mother, her son and a cutting edge politician in a world of pride, regret and final judgement.
