Leaving Of Liverpool, The
Synopsis:
The desperation and anticipation which pushed on the emigrants from Ireland and the exploitation of children by those profiting from the transatlantic trade combine to create a gripping drama which is splendidly balanced with beautiful ballads and sparky humour. Every character is quickly identified and provides scope for young actors to work together in a tight production of one of the National Youth Music Theatre's acclaimed successes.

Powder Monkeys, The
Synopsis:
A powerful piece, originally from the National Youth Music Theatre, which highlights the social hyprocrisy and injustice of Nelson's England, whilst focussing on the inhabitants of the famous cricket-playing village of Hambledon. Young characters of varying backgrounds encounter the dilemma of conflicting loyalties whilst retaining the innocence and spark of childhood - even as they run risks in the face of death as "powder monkeys" on the fighting ships. A lively, poignant, noisy, humorous and moving play providing great scope and challenge.
