Mike Teele is a New York City based playwright whose work has been performed at Theatre for the New City, HERE Performing Arts Center, Vital Theatre, CAP21, John Houseman Theater, Producers Club, Hudson Guild, and more. Works for the stage include Cedarwood Avenue (which joins his two one acts Mother Father Gay Son and Peanut Butter & Scissors), Fairies in Tinseltown, Family Value, Absolution, The Five Year Plan, Clouds, and Edanev. With extensive experience in web, multi-media, variety and sketch, he was the co-creator, co-writer and producer of The Real Friends, a live weekly sitcom that played NYC comedy clubs for more than a year. Additionally, he has written dozens of educational films for kindergarten through senior high and was awarded the Cine' Golden Bear International Film & Video Award for his work. Mike was born outside of Boston and earned his BA from The American University in Washington, DC. (Not Yale.)

Cedarwood Avenue

Synopsis:
In the first act Michael and his sister talk about their lives as children (when their mother was going to the hospital to give birth the daughter told her that if there were only boys to choose from to pick a cat instead) and the mess they have made of their adult lives. In the second act Michael comes out to his parents who are far more accepting than he thought they might be.
