Dandelion

Synopsis:
Dandelion directed by Caroline Bunce, our first ever female director was a devised piece of theatre, taking its inspiration from the role of women during this period. The performance reflected on the effect of time passing and the experience of waiting on both those in combat and those left behind. Much of the work and ideas generated were developed at the workshops with 22 members from the Chepstow and Risca groups. There was considerable research undertaken and much of the multi-media footage, was authentic. This included filmed footage of soldiers disfigured in combat; the first ever cosmetic makeup/masks created to help with their appearance; authentic love letters written and received by soldiers and loved ones; original photographs of family and friends, female workers in an ammunition factory, a female football match and poetry from Vera Brittain & Siegfreid Sassoon.

House for Sale

Synopsis:
An Angel passed by. They are our memories. They are our remembering. Elaborate and exquisite stories are revealed in this elegant south facing property with some period features. As you would expect in a property of this age there are some cracks and evidence of subsidence but we prefer to call them laugh lines. Memories of past and present are brought to life in this site specific project where each room tells a different story. A pair of maids prepare a ceremonial cup of tea, a man dreams of his golfing days, a daughter waits to see if her mother will ever return home whilst she is watched by three shadowy figures. Funny, moving, with live music, drama and dance, House for Sale is about our sense of community and our need to belong. The journey to the property is short but please come prepared for outdoor weather. Please also come prepared for an unforgettable world of delight!

Larvae

Synopsis:
Larvae is the story about our external world, reflected through our internal thoughts, feelings, dreams and memories which we experience through our lives. Are we looking to or are we are looking from? What can we see as an individual, and what can we see as a group? How do we use that experience for our own development and wellbeing? Our environment is our reflection, what we are doing about that? Are we mobile or immobile? Are we limited in self- expression? Do we really need a frame or structures? Are we really independent? Our development in the Larvae stage can be reflected as defiant and proud, flawless and imprecise, always changing. Completely unpredictable, sometimes furious and loud, sometimes lost at times curious, sometimes almost invisible but deep-rooted. The Larvea process, is likened to a puberty stage, where our behaviour is stimulated by hormonal signals impacting our growth, function and transformation of the brain, bones, muscles, blood, skin,. . . "Larvae" is set to focus on the physical growth of the performers, so in dance terms it looks at the morphological- more internal changes reflecting to outward appearance, building the shape, structure, colour and pattern of the human body.

Unique Me, The

Synopsis:
It was a drizzly, grey November day when I was wandering the streets of our little town, thoughts popping in and out of my head, wondering - where am I going? Where have I been? Where have I come from? WHO AM I REALLY? In the distance I could see the Old Library and there outside stands a curious man ushering people in and people out, rather hypnotically. Then something caught my eye -I looked down - there in a puddle floating on a leaf was an envelope and it had my name written on it. Intrigued I bent down and picked it up. As I shook the droplets of water off the envelope which had made the ink run - I could still see a name, my name! My heart was racing - I took a deep breath. . .and carefully opened the envelope and pulled out a note. There in bold letters the words. . .
