Theatre de lAnge Fou was created in Paris in 1984 by Corinne Soum and Steven Wasson, the last assistants of celebrated mime teacher, Etienne Decroux. Now based in London, this international company has produced more than seventeen original theatre works, and also authentic reconstructions of Decrouxs most famous mime pieces. As well as directing Theatre de lAnge Fous productions, Soum and Wasson lead courses at their own theatre school in London, Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique.

Government Inspector
Synopsis:
Scathing satire on bureaucracy and corruption. A great comedy that looks at the lengths petty officials will go to cover their inefficiency and minor crimes when a government inspector comes to call. First produced in 1836. In a small town at the back of nowhere corruption's rife and the Mayor and his cronies have got it made. Then they learn they're going to be subject to an undercover government inspection - and panic. Mistaking a penniless nobody for the inspector they swiftly fall victims to their own stupidity and greed. An adaptation. A sell-out success at the recent Edinburgh Festival, Theatre de lAnge Fous new piece The Government Inspector is based on Nikolai Gogols classic satire of bureaucracy and corruption in nineteenth century provincial Russia. This international companys large acting ensemble creates memorable stage pictures in a seamless flow of inventive movement.

Orpheus Complex, The
Synopsis:
From Ovid to Cocteau, the myth of Orpheus is the eternal mystery play of loss, sacrifice, and the shaking of one's self in order to find one's self. Set in an absurd and imaginary psychiatric institution, under the spell of an eccentric alienist, Ange Fou's adaptation of the myth portrays the descent of Orpheus into the underworld . This leap into a personal hell, a madness with scenes coming and going as in Alice, appears as an x-ray of the mind. In this voyage through the labyrinth of love , populated by a vaudevillian like mythic family, Orpheus is torn between his beloved Eurydice and his fascination for the mysterious incarnation of death. His dark night of the soul is an Everyman quest of being by dying through loving.
