An accomplished, internationally recognized dramatist, published author, director and producer, Stuart Thomas has been described by the London Times as a 'first rate writer' and 'a writer of wit and intelligence' by The Guardian (UK) He studied theater at Glasgow University and screenwriting at the Academy of Art University and on graduating, formed one of Scotlant's best loved touring companies, Take Two Productions, for whom he wrote and directed a slew of hit comedies that wowed audiences and critics alike with their verve and energy. An award-winning playwright, he has written over 50 plays that have successfully toured his native United Kingdom to great acclaim, the most recent being the hugely successful 'the Real Hoosewives Fae Glasgow' for the Pavilion Theater, one of Scottish theatre's biggest commercial hits. Work for other companies in the UK includes shows for Borderline, Scottish Opera, Scottish Youth Theatre, Colchester Mercury Theatre, The Bolton Octagon and many more. Stuart was playwright-in-residence at the internationally renowned Citizens Theatre, Glasgow from 2002-2004, for whom he wrote 'Damn'd Jacobite Bitches' which was awarded the prestigious Pearsons New Writers Award. Stuart has written many plays for children, including pantomimes for Watford Palace, Salisbury Playhouse, Dunfermline Carnegie Hall and the Brunton Theater. He has also written for television (including a stint with the BBC) and is the author of several graphic novels. His short films include 'Raymond' (directed by Mark V. Reyes) which played at film festivals internationally in 2012, and 'the Cause' (directed by Marco De Luca) which was part of the CAnnes Film Festival, 2014, and festivals in LA and Mumbai, among others. His debut feature, 'Bar America' (co-written with Matthew Jacobs, who also directed) has been selected for several festivals, won the Audience Award at the Napa Film Festival in 2014, and will be released in 2015. He has various film projects in development with several companies including Singer Films and Galeforce Films, and his new play 'Eat, pray, love handles' will tour the UK in 2016.
