Audition, The
Synopsis:
The local theater is producing Medea. With stopwatch in hand, the exceptionally organized and time-conscious stage manager meticulously micro-manages every minute of the audition process. After a bit of confusion, our first actor, Kelley, barely manages to speak three words of her monologue before the stage manager cuts her off with a curt THANK YOU! NEXT! Jules, a bubbly musical theater actress, enters and "sings" a unique a cappella version of a popular song. NEXT! Without a word, The-Artist-Formerly-Known-as-Question-Mark enters in whiteface. This mime's audition piece consists of staring into space for 30 seconds. NEXT! Sporting all black, with an English accent and a mighty ego in tow, M.R. Irving takes the stage. After some ridiculous warm-ups and an over-Dramatic monologue, we learn that his first name is Macbeth. Upon hearing the name of the Scottish play, chaos ensues and all of the actors immediately return to the stage for callbacks. Jules acts out "I'm a Little Teapot" with an interpretive dance. M.R. Irving begins to read the part of Jason from that famous Greek tragedy but finds the dialogue a bit trite and decides instead to recite Bottom's dialogue from A Midsummer Night's Dream. At this point, the stage manager has lost all patience, and we soon find out that one of the actors is not who he/she appears to be. The Audition is theatrical mayhem with a twist that will have you rolling in the aisles

If the Shoe Fits
Synopsis:
It all started when Delores, an unhappy housewife, and George, a shoe salesman, met at Shoe Fantasy and it was love at first shoe-fitting. The only thing standing in the way was Delores' doting but half-witted husband, Marvin, who would never agree to a divorce. So there was only one thing left to do-kill Marvin so they can run off together and live a carefree life of passion and romance in a tropical paradise. The lovers come up with a crazy plan to poison Marvin over dinner. Delores invites George to dinner and introduces him to Marvin as a new friend. While Marvin checks on dessert, they slip poison into his wine. But things get out of hand when Marvin doesn't fall for the bait. What was supposed to be a simple foolproof murder turns into a hilarious fiasco when EsperANZa, the eccentric Spanish-speaking maid, arrives on the wrong day and she, too, falls for George. Now George and Delores have to devise a way to get rid of the lovesick EsperANZa and carry out their plan to kill Marvin-that is without killing each other first! Their attempts get funnier and funnier as the lovers try again and again to finish the job only to have EsperANZa and Marvin unknowingly foil their plans each time-resulting in this wacky tale of love, murder, and. . .shoes!

My Life as a Geek
Synopsis:
Charles is the ultimate geek. Through this funny and heart warming story of adolescent nerdiness we follow Charles Frothingham's journey towards nirvana of the geekiest kind.
Notes:
written by Matt Thompson And Ted Reis. San Diego Theatre Scene Critic from KPBS, Pat Launer: "The ridicule, the prom, the missteps, the Math-letes. Nerd Heaven. And All too, too funny. You may have heard geek stories before. But you haven't heard them told half this entertainingly. Reis is As fleet of foot As of tongue; his physical comedy is superb, whether it's dancing or mime, or contorting his Gumby-flexible face into vastly different personalities. Absolutely hilarious!"

KPBS, San Diego "Three different perspectives, one Academically pedantic, one self-serving/blase, one Angry/brutal/terrified. The language is raw, searing, sometimes beautiful/awful. Like the discourse Around us today, it becomes confusing, conflicting At times; you have to make sense of the competing messages And draw your own conclusions. Snaking through All the stories is the elusive Truth, the way it's twisted And distorted, warped And manipulated, until no one knows or hears it Any more. Powerful work on A potent piece of writing.

Two Nights in Rome
Synopsis:
Nigel and Stacey are perfect strangers. Through what seems like unforeseen circumstances, this English Geography professor and American animal trainer are forced to co-habitat for two nights together in Rome, Italy. As our story opens we find Nigel and Stacey, hung over, in a hotel room in Rome. A pounding on the front door sparks the pair into consciousness. As they come to their senses they attempt to solve the missing pieces of last night, all the while Michael, Stacey's very big boyfriend, is supposed to meet her downstairs in the lobby 30 minutes ago. Before they know it the two strangers are met by the Pagliazzi family. Ottavio, the cab driver who picked up Nigel and Stacey from the airport two days ago, insisted that they stay the night at his house: Italian Custom. When Gianna, Ottavio's feisty wife, finds Stacey, she bursts into the hotel room and delivers a tirade in Italian, for she thinks that while she was gone to her mother's, Stacey and Ottavio were involved in some hanky panky. This is all a big misunderstanding as Ottavio wrongly assumes that Stacey and Nigel are married. Honor is temporarily served as Nigel and Stacey concoct a story about being newlyweds so as not to dishonor the Pagliazzi family or Don Vitello. With all things seemingly resolved the Italians throw a party in the hotel room, but Stacey is anxious to get them and Nigel out before Michael appears. Stacey gets the Pagliazzi's to leave by exclaiming that Italy just won the World Cup. The Italian family heads out and leave Nigel and Stacey alone, once again. After a brief respite of calmness Nigel gets set to leave. As soon as Stacey opens the door for Nigel, Michael is standing there. Stacey slams the door in his face and gets Nigel to hide in the bathroom. Stacey then re-opens the door on a very confused Michael as she attempts to pull her boyfriend out of the room, but Michael, who is exhausted wants to freshen up: in the bathroom. Knowing that Nigel is in the bathroom, Stacey tries every trick in the book to get Michael to leave the room. In a fit of desperation she squirts some hand sanitizer in his face, temporarily blinding Michael in order to give Nigel some time to escape. Michael wonders around the room, eventually cornering Nigel who he then proceeds to embrace for he believes that Nigel is actually Stacey. Stacey finally shoves a still blinded Michael back into the bathroom to give Nigel some breathing room to exit. Just as he does, Nigel's knapsack bursts open. Inside are all the hotel towels and soaps, even the coffee maker. He explains to her that he has a little problem: Nigel is a kleptomaniac. The two start arguing just as Michael, who has washed up exits the bathroom. Stacey, seeing that Nigel is now in plain view, sprays shaving cream in Michael's face to blind him once again in order give Nigel yet another chance to leave. After this Michael finally exits the bathroom. Nigel, who has just finished stuffing the contents of his bag together, hides yet again, this time under the rumpled covers of Stacey's bed. After some more mayhem, Michael proposes his love to his girlfriend with his intent to marry her. He then exits, to look for a razor in order to shave. Stacey is shocked and frightened at the thought of marriage, so she concocts a plan to use Nigel to make Michael jealous. Nigel, reluctantly agrees, and hides in the closet. But when it is time to reveal her lover, Nigel has second thoughts and when he is revealed, he is wearing Stacey's dress from last night, and a wig, pretending to be woman. Upon discovery his eyes are closed and appears dead as Michael thinks that the wine stain on the dress is blood! Stacey attempts to kiss Nigel in order to awaken the Englishman and to make Michael jealous, but Nigel won't "come to." Michael believes that she is giving the poor unconscious woman C.P.R. Soon after, Michael exits to find an ambulance as Stacey and Nigel are left alone. Stacey apologizes to Nigel and gives him a little peck on the lips. Michael, who has crept back into the room, sees this, and the two immediately put on a farce. Nigel says that he/she is an Italian nurse and he/she is inspecting all the hotel rooms in Rome for C.P.R. certification. During the commotion, the Pagliazzi's explode into the hotel room once again, this time all packaged up in soccer uniforms and carrying an Italian flag! More comedy ensues as Don Vitello makes an appearance as Santa Claus as the truth of the situation is revealed. Michael proposes to Stacey. She accepts and the party is on! Music and dancing take place as it ends up being a very merry Christmas for all, until. . . Everybody seems to be missing something valuable: Stacey's purse, Michael's wallet, Gianna's bracelet, are all gone. Even Mama Nona's sausage and pepper pan have been stolen! After the group puts the pieces together they realize that they've been had. Nigel is actually a thief! They all rush out in revenge! It's two nights of mischief, mayhem, and meatballs in this screwball comedy!
