Children's CrUSAde, The
Synopsis:
Set in Europe in the thirteenth century, the play tells of the unsuccessful attempt by thousands of German and French children, led by the thirteen-year-old Nicholas, to recapture the Holy Land after their elders had failed in the task. Through sixteen short scenes, with chants and songs to punctuate the action, we see the children move from initial idealism and high hopes to eventual disillusionment and ruin, as they come into conflict with the harsh political and economic realities of a corrupt world. And yet, in the end, it the message of hope and idealism which prevails, for the ultimate lesson of the play is that the world can and will be changed for the better when there are those willing to face its challenges, whatever the cost.

Hirsch
Synopsis:
A brilliant triumph (Ottawa Citizen). Canada's legendary Stratford Festival makes its Edinburgh debut with the smash hit production direct from its Canadian World Premiere season. Orphaned by war, Hungarian refugee Hirsch finds a new home in the world of theatre, where fierce talent and uncompromising drive propel him to great heights but challenge his existence. Alon Nashman's gut-wrenching and emotionally charged tour de force performance (**** Beat Magazine) brings Hirsch to life. Reorients our perception of where the magic really comes from (New York Times). Spellbinding (Playbill.com). Inspiring and intimidating (NOW Magazine). Hugely compelling, don't miss!
