Joy In Repetition: A Hauntological Romeo & Juliet
Synopsis:
Joy in Repetition is a 'hauntological' version of the classic Romeo and Juliet myth. Incorporating samples from Shakespeare's canonical tragedy and Ovid's Metamorphoses, JiR refracts this ancient story through a 21st century filter. In this telling, Romeo and Juliet are not blazing their way to romantic glory, but dealing with the protracted denouement that follows it. Likewise, the audience is not watching the same old poetic leaves fall, but confronting their own role in a recurring disaster.
