Paul Tomlinson is an experienced stage director. He initially trained as an actor at the University of Cape Town. As a theatre director he has worked extensively in this country. For ten years he was Director of the new Queens Theatre in Hornchurch. As a freelance Director he has directed in the West End - The Who's Tommy, Chris Bond's Downright Hooligan (Mermaid), Doug Lucie's Force and Hypocrisy (Young Vic) Barrie Keeffe's Frozen Assets (Half Moon), Joe Orton's Funeral Games (Kings Head), Afinogenev's Distant Point - which was Critic's Choice in Time Out - and Brenton's Hitler Dances (Greenwich Studio Theatre). He directed a Platform Performance at the National Theatre for NT2000 of "Master Harold". . . and the boys by Athol Fugard in the Cottesloe Theatre. BBC Radio 4 produced his documentary/drama If The Snakes Don't Get You, which he also narrated. He wrote and directed Gorilla in the Roses which was shown at the BBC Short Film Festival and the Raindance Film Festival. He has directed many Drama School Productions at Central, Drama Centre, East 15 and The Royal Scottish Academy. His productions include: Bond's Saved and The Sea, Brecht's The Mother, Wycherley's The Country Wife, Arthur Miller's The Crucible, Sheridan's The Rivals, Nick Dear's The Art of Success, Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus and Terry Johnson's The London Cuckolds.
