Synopsis:
This adaptation of Agnes Owens' novel tells the tragic story of Peggy, an ordinary girl in extraordinary times. One day delivering newspapers, the next, her life spiralling out of control. At the heart of the play is Peggy's brief and unexpected affair with her employer, with whom she falls madly in love. Initially imagining that her lover will leave his wife, Peggy is soon abandoned - pregnant, shamed and forced to fall back on her mother who makes life-changing decisions about her world.
