Russell attended the Soho Theatre Young Writers' Course in 2001. He is also a very successful actor and played Rudge in Alan Bennett's the HISTORY BOYS at the National Theatre, in the West End, and on Broadway, not to mention on screen in Nicholas Hytner's film version of the play.
