Renald Tremblay was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec in 1943. At nineteen he became a member of the troupe Les Apprentis de la Rampe. He received a B.A. in Pedagogy from Laval University and also pursued musical studies in piano and organ performance. In 1963, he was actie in the theatre group, La Marmite in Jonquière.
