RALPH TROPF holds an MFA in Playwrighting and has completed 13 full length scripts. His plays the Hourglass and Squid and Fishy each won awards from the Kennedy Center/ACTF. Shadow Hour is published by Samuel French. His screenplay, the Orchid and the Cross was a semifinalist for a Nicholl Fellowship. A former producer for FOX Television, he now teaches Humanities in Los Angles. He is a member of the Dramatist's Guild and Neo Ensemble Theatre.

A young couple meet, date, fall in love, plan to marry and then break up all over their answering machines.

Falling Headlong

Synopsis:
the Supreme Court of the United States has overturned Roe V. Wade, and abortion is illegal again. Sara Pindar, an obstetrician in her first year of practice, must find ways to give her patients the best care possible within the restrictions of the law. Her patients include a devout Christian woman who needs a life saving abortion procedure but refuses consent. Also, an impoverished woman who tries to self-abort when she feels she has no other option. there's funny stuff in it, too.

Hourglass, The

Synopsis:
After an accident in his laboratory, a scientist finds that he can remember the future as he forgets the past. He wanders into a Diner where he meets a waitress and instantly knows he loves her. After convincing her that he is sincere, he slowly begins to forget who she is. An apparently demented old man turns out to be more than he seems, and leads the scientist on a path to his future.

Impression: Sunrise

Synopsis:
Terry, a fashion design student in a small private college, has a one-night stand with a local photographer. She becomes pregnant. Shortly after, she is offered an internship with a top designer in New York. She must decide whether to remain in her small town an build a relationship with the photographer, or leave for New York and deal with the pregnancy on her own.

Serendipity

Synopsis:
A man and woman are breaking off their relationship while in the audience of a play. the audience doesn't know it's a play until a cab driver comes in to pick up the man. He invites the audience to vote on whether then couple should stay together or break up. Two endings are written depending on how the audience votes.

Shadow Hour

Synopsis:
A United States Senator is on trial for sexual assault. As the jury deliberates the evidence, it becomes clear that each person remembers the testimony differently, filtered through his or her own experience. Flashbacks to the trial show the witnesses giving widely divergent accounts of the events. the truth, it seems, is lost in a shadow hour.
