Antarctica
Synopsis:
Antarctica is a virtual experience created for a three-dimensional reality simulator called "the Cave." the experience begins like a traditional nature documentary, detailing the remote terrain of a mysterious continent. the images snap in two and dissolve into an imagined, 3-D landscape comprised entirely of text. the audience is invited to explore a lagoon of icebergs built from fragments of dreams, memories, and snippets of sexual first-times. then, the landscape shifts, and the audience is surrounded by arctic winds, calving icebergs, and the moans of shifting glaciers. Bits of an imagined journey combine with quotes from Copernicus' De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium to form a large orbital mass, a mobile, that mines secrets from underneath the frozen ice.

Hoot Owl, The
Synopsis:
Three unrehearsed performers receive headphones and iPods loaded with pre-recorded instructions. they interpret the instructions in real time before a live audience. Through a combination of song, dance, storytelling and noise, the audience watches the hilarious and moving story of three Southern women dressed in camo departing for a weekend hunting trip. This gripping and highly theatrical performance is funny, strange, and at times incredibly moving, as it tackles the politics of role-playing, deer hunting, and - the most controversial - cornbread.
