Melodic Dystrophy
Melodic Dystrophy
Synopsis:
Melodic Dystrophy is a puppet play that explores what happens to a person when their primary means of expression - the body - begins to fall apart, questioning the dissonances between body and soul when one is confronted with love and loss. Modernising Japanese Bunraku-style puppetry, the play tells the story of an actor diagnosed with an accelerated degenerative disease, rapidly taking his body from his own control. Tightly choreographed with a post-rock soundtrack, this original drama stages a life in decay through the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe and innovative interaction between the animate and the inanimate.
