By playing out the roles of all the characters who were ensnared by the diamond, they begin to unravel the mystery. Guiding them through the twists and turns is Sergeant Cuff, first of the Great Detectives. He steers them towards the solution to the riddle - who stole the Moonstone, and how?

Purvis
Synopsis:
Life-changing meetings can happen in the oddest of places: in this case, the vestry of a C of E church is the scene. Uptight, down-trodden Rachel, the vicar's wife, chats to recently-widowed Mr Purvis there and is rather cornered into offering him the post of the church's Health and Safety Officer. the consequences are unexpected: Purvis is keen but, frankly, causes more problems than he solves, the vicar being the prime victim of his misguided attempts to make things safer, and Rachel, though exasperated and embarrassed by Purvis, grows in self-confidence as their friendship deepens. Funny, touching and wry, this play for two actors is an example of comedy writing at its very best.

Smoking Gun: Cover Her Feet/Fly in the Ointment
Synopsis:
the plays offer quite different, and mutually exclusive, possibilities, as if they are taking place in parallel universes: while Cover Her Feet begins with Bobby accidentally shooting his wife, and ends with Lexi accidentally shooting her boss, Fly in the Ointment begins with Lexi accidentally shooting her boss, and ends with Bobby accidentally shooting his wife (I hope you're following me). And while in the first play Bobby and Lexi have already met, and are 'working together' as man and life coach, at the beginning of the second play they meet for the first time.

Tales of the Country
Synopsis:
Nearly eight years ago, as Independent readers will know, Brian Viner and his family left Crouch End for Docklow Grange, a Victorian manor in Hereford-shire. No-one forced them out of north London; it was merely a bad dose of what he drolly calls "metropause". Out of this exodus came the column "Country Life" and a book, Tales of the Country. Viner - with a townie's experience of country dwelling - found inspiration flowing even when the septic tank was blocked. Now, on a tiny set and with a large bundle of props, a handful of costumes and a babble of sound effects, life chez Viner is vividly Dramatised by the resourceful Pentabus theatre. In which other venue except homely Shifnal Village Hall, by the way, could local produce on stage be supplemented by coffee and homemade cake for the audience?
